State-specific decision hinge
Wyoming’s product page has a non-linear minimum-fee formula: the $30 floor controls smaller loans, while 20% controls larger amounts.
Current state rule table
| State field | Current rule |
|---|---|
| License | Post-dated check casher must be licensed by Wyoming Division of Banking |
| Finance charge | Cannot exceed the greater of $30 or 20% per month on principal |
| Maximum term | One calendar month, excluding qualifying EPP |
| Refinance | Same post-dated-check casher cannot repay/refinance/consolidate using proceeds of another such transaction |
| Rescission | By 5 p.m. Mountain Time the following business day at no cost when principal is returned |
Product scenario
For a $100 principal, 20% is $20, so the statutory greater-of formula makes $30 the ceiling. For $300, 20% is $60, so $60 controls. These are statutory examples, not lender quotes.
